TREATMENTOF POSTERIOR DISLOCATION OF TMJ DISC

Abstract

|
The purpose of this article is to report a case of posterior dislocation of ¢¥TMJ disc accompanied with anterior dislocation of joint which was successfully managed. Patient, 46 years old woman, was visited to our department for treatment of left TMJ pain and mouth closing disturbance, open bite of the affected posterior teeth. On the basis of clinical, TMJ radiographic and panoramic view examination, it was diagnosed as a POSTERIOR DISLOCATION of TMJ DISC form ,¢¥mouth over opening. Patient was physically treated with biting gauze to activate superior head of lateral pterygoid muscle. This treatment was done so that the TMJ disc position was relocated normal position and left TMJ pain and mouth closing disturbance were lost.
